In our reading of C. S. Lewis’s Voyage of the Dawn Treader (see Gayle’s Gable), spells in the Magic Book tempt Lucy. The spell for beauty draws her in and she almost reads it when Aslan’s growling face appears in the book. Frightened, Lucy turns the page and puts the spell behind her. Check out this verse from I Corinthians 10 and see if God doesn’t do the same for you:

No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it.                  I Corinthians 10:13 (NIV)

God promises that your temptation will never be more than the two of you can handle together. He also promises a way of escape. Think about what temptations tend to get you. Lucy desired beauty and forgot that the condition of her heart was more important than the appearance of her face. What desire catches your attention? Focus on Him and look for your escape route.

Fitness Tip: Eat a rainbow this week. See how many colors you can get on your plate. No artificial ones allowed.
