Author Visits
Kingswell Kid Detective Series
Each session runs about 45 minutes with time for Q & A. Options include half-day (2 presentations plus book donations to the school library) or full day (4 presentations with book donations). This series has a strong faith element.
Book 1: The Mystery of the Missing Falls
1. Conflict: Be Mean to Your Characters
In this session, Gayle explores the significance of goals, stakes, and obstacles, and explains how they work in story. She'll discuss how conflict functioned in The Mystery of the Missing Falls, how it plays out in real life, and what God says about offenses and forgiveness.
2. Partnering with God in the Creative Process
Gayle discusses the plot skeleton, beat sheets, and how authors use them. Students learn elements essential to mystery writing (including vocabulary words). Gayle will also explore what it means to invite God into the creative process.
3. Author Q & A (In-person and virtual option)
What does an author's day look like? How does an author create a story? What's involved in the publishing process?

Painting with Words
Gayle draws a parallel to visual art in teaching writing principles like mood, tone, and voice. She also covers the major parts of speech and which ones authors don't use. Students participate in writing exercises that practice Show, Don't Tell. Gayle touches on the revision/editing process, but can tailor the workshop to cover specific elements teachers need emphasized.

Gayle is available for Christian women’s events, small groups, Sunday school, Bible studies, and grandparent events as well as youth and children’s programs. She imparts a love of Scripture with practical, real-life applications.

Gayle Veitenheimer
Gayle is a seminary-trained author and speaker who blends her love for Scripture with a passion for storytelling, crafting adventurous fiction and creative non-fiction that inspire children and teens to walk boldly in their faith. A devoted follower of Jesus and an avid CrossFit enthusiast, runner, hiker, and national-parks explorer, she finds wonder in creation. Based in Austin but happiest on a trail, Gayle pursues projects ranging from picture books and preteen devotionals to MG/YA novels, while also offering author visits, writing workshops, and speaking engagements.
