Football. ESPN highlights. Quarterback sacks. Receivers flipped by a huge hit. If you’re a football fan, you know the importance of protection, whether it’s the offensive line protecting the quarterback or a key block that protects a running back or receiver from a bone-crunching hit. Proverbs 13:6 gives us insight into our O line:
“Righteousness guards the man of integrity, but wickedness overthrows the sinner.”
Righteousness guards us and protects our blind side. The choices you make can either build a solid wall of protection around you or leave you open to a hit. Character matters and small choices made with integrity add up to big protection when the game is on the line. Challenge yourself to do the right thing, every time. No choice is small to God. Even though He walks with you, you must make the choice between right and wrong, between helping or hurting, between making a difference or just not caring. Remember our verse “wickedness overthrows the sinner”. The enemy is way worse than Lawrence Taylor, but Jesus is our Michael Oher.
If you stumble, get up and try again. God honors a steadfast commitment to Himself. One right choice makes the next one a little easier, so walk in righteousness and protect your blind side.
