So Thankful for You
Paul knew how to start a letter:
“I thank my God every time I remember you. In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy.” Philippians 1:3 NIV
“We always thank God for all of you and continually mention you in our prayers.” 1 Thessalonians 1:2
“I always thank my God as I remember you in my prayers.” Philemon 1:4
I had a friend like this. Made me feel oh, so special every time I saw her. Paul mentioned two things:
- He thanked God for that group of believers or for that individual.
- He told them of his constant prayer on their behalf.
I don’t know about you, but I’m lovin’ this guy.
How difficult would it be to do the same for those we love most?
Of course, we’d actually have to take time to pray for them and we’d have to be truly thankful. Even when they drive us crazy—as the churches did Paul (Check out the letters to the Corinthians.).
Would I be so quick to vent about them if I followed Paul’s lead? Would I see more positives than frustrations? Would my heart grow softer toward those who continue to push my buttons?
I think I’ll give it a try. Care to join me?
