How To Multiply Time

Twenty-four hours.

That’s all we’ve got.

If we say yes to this, we must say no to that. And I think God did this on purpose. He wants to see what we choose. Like in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, will we choose wisely? I’ll tell you a secret. There’s a bonus in store for those who do. Choose wisely, that is. Let’s look at two verses.

And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work. (2 Corinthians 9:8 NIV)

But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. (Matthew 6:33 NIV)

Our bonus? When we choose wisely, God multiplies time. I’ve seen Him do it. When I put Him first through an offering of time, I have seen Him multiply time for me later. I have accomplished amazing amounts of work and the clock barely moved.

But you know what came first.

The time with Him.

It’s like tithing and trusting God with the rest of the month.

A step of faith. That’s what I needed when I started taking time out of the schedule for Him.

God has come through so many times since then, I count on God’s math. I know if I make time for Him, He’ll show me what needs doing, what can wait, and what can be eliminated all together. Twenty-four hours will be enough.

The day will also end in peace. Nothing hanging over my shoulder. No monkeys on my back.

He can do the same for you. And for your student who is up late stressing over homework and the extracurricular schedule.

It’s a trust thing—with benefits.

Give it a try.

Questions:

Who or what determines how your time is spent?

What time is under your control vs. a boss, teacher, or coach’s?

How do you choose to spend it?

How’s it working?

How would you like it to work?

I am giving this to my college kids. And a great reminder for me!

Most of us need it. It seems like we are all fighting the clock.
